Exterior Renovations

First Impressions, Lasting Protection

Your home's exterior does two jobs at once. It is the first thing anyone sees, and it is the assembly keeping water out of the wall behind it. Most exterior renovations are sold on the first job and fail at the second.

We work with materials that hold up in southwestern Ontario: fibre cement, engineered wood, insulated vinyl, stone and brick veneer, and pressure-treated or composite decking. Selection follows the elevation, the exposure and the architecture.

Behind the finish, the sheathing, house wrap, flashing and drainage plane are what determine whether the cladding lasts twenty-five years or five. Those layers get inspected and detailed on every project we take on.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Curb Appeal That Reads From the Street

Chalking siding, sagging soffit, a porch with rot in the posts and trim that has not held paint in a decade. Each is a small thing on its own, and together they set the impression of the entire property before anyone reaches the door.

We handle full exterior renovations: siding replacement, soffit and fascia, trim and corner detailing, porch and deck construction, railings, exterior lighting and the architectural details that give an elevation some structure.

"A good exterior renovation improves the elevation and protects the wall behind it at the same time."

WEATHER PROTECTION

Getting the Layers Right

Southwestern Ontario puts an exterior through ice, wind-driven rain, humidity, UV and a freeze-thaw cycle that finds every unsealed joint. Materials and installation methods both have to be chosen for that, not for a milder climate.

On every project we inspect the sheathing, house wrap, flashing and drainage plane before new cladding goes on. Head flashing over openings, correctly lapped wrap, a drainage gap where the assembly calls for one, and kick-out flashing where a roof meets a wall. None of it is visible afterwards, and all of it decides the outcome.

"Good siding over bad flashing fails within a few years. The layers underneath decide the result."

Our Process

How Your Exterior Renovations Project Works

1

Site Assessment

We inspect the cladding, trim, flashing and drainage, and identify what is failing and why.

2

Material & Design Selection

Cladding, profile, colour and accent materials chosen against your home's architecture and exposure.

3

Weather Planning

Work is scheduled around Ontario's seasons so the wall is never open longer than it needs to be.

4

Construction

Old cladding comes off in sections, the drainage layers are corrected, and new material goes on behind it.

5

Inspection & Warranty

Every elevation is reviewed at close-out, with written warranty coverage on materials and labour.

The North Point Difference

Why Choose North Point for Exterior Renovations

Specified for the Climate

Materials and fastening methods are selected for freeze-thaw cycling and wind-driven rain, which is what this region actually delivers.

Drainage Detailed Properly

Rain screens, head and kick-out flashing, and correctly lapped house wrap prevent the water intrusion behind most siding failures.

Elevations Designed as a Whole

Cladding, trim, stone and colour are chosen together against the roofline and window layout, not picked one at a time.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Most siding replacements run $8,000 to $25,000 or more, depending on wall area, material and how much trim, soffit and flashing work comes with it. Fibre cement sits above vinyl on material cost and above it again on installation labour.

Fibre cement such as James Hardie holds colour and resists impact well but costs more to install. Insulated vinyl performs well for the money and suits most homes. Engineered wood gives a wood look with better dimensional stability. We match the choice to the elevation and budget.

Most exterior projects run 1 to 4 weeks. We work in sections so no elevation stays open, and we build weather days into the schedule rather than promising dates the forecast will not support.

Yes. Straight cladding replacement often does not require one, but decks above a certain height, structural changes, new openings and porch construction generally do. We apply and coordinate the inspections.

We can usually get close. For additions we source the nearest available brick and, where an exact match is not manufactured any more, design a deliberate contrast band or complementary stone veneer so the transition reads as intentional rather than as a patch.
